Украинским дизайнерам посвящается / Dedicated to Ukrainian fashion designers

До недавнего времени я была достаточно далека от моды. Но, как говорят, все происходит в свое время. С сегодняшнего дня я посвящаю часть своего времени и этот блог украинской моде и украинским дизайнерам.

Until recently I was not much interested in fashion. However, I believe, all that happens to us happens at a right time. Starting from today I dedicate part of my spare time to this blog and Ukrainian fashion designers.

Этой весной я впервые посетила Ukrainian fashion week и поняла, что горжусь нашими дизайнерами. Не только потому, что они профессионалы и большинство коллекций вызывает гордость за Украину, но и потому, что они патриоты. Я горжусь и теми, кто шил бронежилеты для майдана зимой, спасая жизни, как Ivan Frolov, и теми, кто вышел в конце показа с украинским флагом, вызвав тем самым патриотический прилив у зрителей (люди просто дружно встали), как Bicholla Tetradze. Писать можно много и о каждом в отдельности, но пока остановлюсь на самом запоминающемся.

This spring I visited Ukrainian fashion week for the first time. I understood one thing – I am proud of Ukrainian designers. This is not only for the reason they are great professionals, but also because they are patriots. I am proud of those, who sewed bulletproof vests for Maidan this winter like Ivan Frolov and I am proud of those, who ended their fashion shows with a Ukrainian flag display (which made the whole auditorium stand up) like Bicholla Tetradze. Of course, it is worth saying something about each show, but let me concentrate on the most memorable moments.

Во время показа Залевского, который смотрела в прямом эфире онлайн (зрителей на показе не было), честно признаюсь, заплакала. Выстрелы и падающие на подиум модели - такое запоминается надолго. Формат "чтобы помнили" мне очень близок. Уж слишком быстро забывают люди, о том, что произошло всего месяц назад. Надо помнить, чтобы не повторять ошибок прошлого, надо помнить, потому что сейчас мы строим наше будущее, и эта возможность дана нам ценой людских жизней.

During the fashion show of Zalevskiy, which I watched online (spectators were not allowed to the show), I have to honestly admit, I was crying. Gun shots and falling on the runway “shot” models – it is hard to forget. The “to be remembered” fashion show format is very much understandable. We should remember Maidan not to repeat the same mistakes; we should remember Maidan because we now start to build our future but this opportunity we’ve got at the expense of human lives.

Многие коллекции были выдержаны в черных тонах. Были и такие, где желтый и голубой (коллекция Poustovit) выступили в конце показа как надежда на доброе будущее. Лично у меня желто-голубые V-образные вставки в коллекции ассоциируются с победой ("Victory").

Many collections were designed in black colors. Also, there were such collections where yellow and blue colors (Poustovit collection) displayed in designs closer to the end of the show were symbolic (hope for the better). For me personally, the V-shaped yellow and blue inserts in this collection are associated with “Victory”.

С таким народом как украинский победа непременно будем за нами. Я в этом не сомневаюсь. Спасибо украинским дизайнерам за то, что они не просто дизайнеры, а дизайнеры-патриоты.

Ukrainian people will win and I have no doubts in that. Thank you, Ukrainian designers, as you are not just great designers but great patriots.
